Dental Implants
If you have had the unfortunate experience of needing one or more teeth extracted then a dental implant is a viable solution for you. The dental implant is a wonderful, good looking, permanent solution to replace one or more missing teeth.
You can have the dental implants completely and permanently performed within just a few short months and spend the rest of your life enjoying a fully restored smile. Initially your jaw will be prepped for the implantation of a titanium screw into your jawbone. This is done by a gum line incision where the implant will need to be fully inserted. If you will need multiple dental implants you can have all of them inserted at the same time. Once the titanium screws are properly inserted into the jawbone, the areas are stitched up for healing before the next step in the process.
Once the implant has been inserted there needs to be time allotted for healing and stabilization. Most often that process requires about a 3 to 6 month time period. This time is critical for the bone in the jaw to form around the implant in a process known as osseointegration. Without proper bone growth around the new implants you will experience implant instability. While you are waiting for your implant to fully heal you will be fitted with temporary crowns intended to help you look good and feel confortable chewing or speaking throughout the healing process.
Once the healing time has passed and you have sufficient bone growth around the implant you are ready for abutment placement. What is an abutment? It is essentially the name used for the base used to place the permanent tooth restoration onto. Once the abutment is in place a molded impression is taken it will be sent off to the lab where the custom replacement tooth is created. On your final visit this customized tooth will be place permanently onto the implant and you will be amazed by the natural look of your beautiful new smile. These amazing dental implants are strong, durable and look just like your natural teeth.
